Corman and his brother, Gene, financed this in its entirety out of their own pockets. Based on a novel that was based on a true story, it might seem tame by today’s standards, told from a (mostly) white POV, but at the time it was a ticking bomb.

    I don’t think I’ll ever tire of watching these low-budget Alien rip-offs. There’s really something to be said for a movie that is so frickin’ good that people will just make imitation upon imitation for years and years after its release.

    This one has the same budget as Galaxy of Terror, around $700k, but it feels more expensive. The effects are really good, especially the space station in the first act, and also the spaceship interiors. This was very 80s,…
