The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant 1972
Interesting after the movies conclusion- the spirited departure of a last leg of dependence- to hear so many accounts of how personal petras character is to fassbinders own romantic folly, how people on set couldnt help but laugh hearing some of his own words repeated out of petras mouth. I wonder about the function of this doubling and personal account, the need to repeat his own sour lines, and stitching in an anti-lesson that pulls the final, invisible rug from under his projected self.
