Fun, funny, and moderately engaging plot for 90 minutes, then an overly explicit, boring, and uninteresting political side plot becomes the main focus for the rest of the film.
Comedy, delivery, and cinematography were good together, but PLEASE can there be subtlety in your ideology, Bong Joon Ho. Yes, genocide is bad! You don't need to have your character directly say that to the antagonist though for us to understand that.
The explicitness of the politics is an insult to the comprehension ability of the audience.

It's hard to say what's wrong with a film when there's so little that's even remarkable. The unapologetic lesbianism and gay sex is a positive, but everything else rides the line between lack of satisfaction and insufferability. The character "development"? Lack of satisfaction. The dialogue? Insufferable. The characters? Both.

It pains me to rate it this low and I really really wanted this movie to be good and to love it but with the pacing, writing, and ending I just couldn’t enjoy it.
The set design, Ryan, and Margot Robbie were all fantastic though. Ryan in particular was COMMITTED to the part and the set design was yk, Barbie.
Its just everything else that brought it down.
