The pacing is very '1970s' in that it's a little slow to get going. However, after the halfway point, tension is dialed up much higher that most thriller/horror movies. I won't spoil anything other than to say the whole scene in the hotel room is dynamite.
Oh and super young Harrison Ford too.
It’s easy to forget just how good a visual storyteller M. Night Shyamalan can be when things are overshadowed by the expectation of a Twist.
I’m not a huge fan of horror either, and have a tendency to turn the volume down if I’m expecting a jump scare, and I ended up watching this low for most of the back half of the movie. So it was effective in that.
