this feels VERY early 2000's ghost movies, and i like a lot about it, but i also have some problems

i love the novel concept of the camera being the ghost's POV for the entire film. it's voyeuristic, and at first, you almost feel bad, like it's you yourself just staring at this family. but as more of the family members personalities, stories, anxieties, and abnormalities come to light, you just feel like you want to help them. i think…

one of the best animated movies ever!! mhmm!! yup!!

my absolute FAVORITE aspect of The Iron Giant is that it perfectly captures the essence and time period of the 1950's, but turns it completely on it's head. instead of being pro-war propaganda, the villain IS the American military; personified perfectly (and hilariously) by Kent Mansley. a story focusing on how evil guns and weapons are, and how they can become even more dangerous and painful when wielded by people we…

this is a REALLY incredible and underrated slasher. the opening dream sequence feels so ethereal and real, all of the dialogue is fun, realistic, with well written characters. the daughter especially, i love when horror movies treat their kids like actual kids with personalities and who help drive the story

cool kills, a neat twist at the end i genuinely didn't see coming, and a fun setting of an entire towns power going out. honestly my only complaint is it drags a bit in the 3rd act before the finale, but other than that WOW what a fantastic movie
