I honestly wasn’t expecting a lot from a prequel to A Quiet Place. It felt like another franchise bothering to answer questions that I wasn’t really asking. Instead, this was a nice character-driven story with a lot more pathos than I anticipated using the alien apocalypse as a backdrop. I’m not sure how many other stories we need to see in this universe, but I’m at least glad to have seen this one.
This also made me see the pure gold potential in a horror film told exclusively from the perspective of a cat.
