I’m not being objective here, but I find comedies hard to rewatch. Once you know the punchlines, they lose any sense of anticipation.
For some reason, this is one of the few comedies with endless rewatch value.
This is why we have Nic Cage.
Cher is radiant in a piece unlike any other I’ve seen.

Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but this is by miles my favorite Bong Joon Ho vehicle. I found the fine-tuned trappings of Snowpiercer and Parasite so exacting that nearly all messiness slipped away.
I’m still pondering why, but the madcap earnestness of Mickey 17 works better for me as social commentary.

The A listers do too much here, but they settle into a rhythm quickly. The splintered family dynamic tracks in the gravity of a raging narcissist.
The haunting and delicate score helped foreground the loneliness these characters feel together.
