A police procedural and character study told in flashback, with the lightest of black mass dustings. Karen Black is exquisite here, both with her extraordinary, vastly sympathetic portrayal of Elizabeth and her musical work. Christopher Plummer is an era perfect detective foil for her story, running to catch up and solve her death. Not scary in the slightest, but I am still carrying sorrow from my viewing of this film. Good stuff.

The Blob 1988
Day Seven Trope Duo: It Came From Outer Space and Body Horror, exhibit C.
A gooey, body-horrific remake of a 50s teen horror classic. The contrast between the two fascinates me. And I love that this much more predatory ever-growing mass of space ooze is bubblegum pink. All the better to see the dissolving people, my dear.

Demons 1985
A mysterious film conjures up highly contagious demons for its unsuspecting audience, making for shrieking, goopy and giallo-flavored fun. This is mostly a chase-and-kill film, but the demon effects are worth it, as is the soundtrack [primarily heavy metal]. Good, silly fun.
