Really strong start then felt like it had nowhere to go (or too many places to go). Serial killer? Supernatural psychic abilities? Haunted dolls? Satan worshiper? Satan himself? A deal with the devil? 3rd act felt chaotic and unfocused. Unfortunately for Nick Cage he’s a great actor but it’s a challenge to see beyond him as a caricature at this point.

Murder aside, the dialogue from Jack in this film and the heavy handed characterization of a tortured artist is completely reminiscent of being on a date with a straight guy in his mid twenties. In both scenarios I’m asking myself, when will this be over?
Also!! Using the end scene from Melancholia during one of his explanations about symbolism was so indulgent
