  For the time, this movie is pretty progressive, in its incredibly sleazy way. It beats the idea of meta jokes about Hollywood and horror movies so hard that they lose all impact, but at least it's trying something different for the series. Not the worst one I've seen.

  This movie made such an impression on me the first time that I completely forgot I'd just watched it (for the first time) last year. It's a fun precursor to Mortal Kombat; all about the tournament and the martial arts and no pesky plot or character development to get in the way or the proceedings.

  Faithful to the source material, creative, funny, full of likable characters and good kills. It keeps things moving at a great clip, and doesn't slow down at the wrong times. I have a few bones to pick but overall this is a worthy addition to this year's crop of horror.
