This is exactly what it feels like to be stuck in a conversation with somebody who begins prattling on about life being a simulation or referring to people as NPCs.

It’s nice to see Hugh Grant take a break from gimmicky roles he will later complain about and really sink his teeth into a massively compelling performance.

If you watch closely, you can see Tom Hardy dissociating in real time.

When it commits and leans into the absurdity, it works. In between those moments, it just drags. Oddly enough, among all of the violent and over-the-top action sequences, I think the scene that worked the best and set this apart is the Space Oddity singalong scene.

The weakest of the trilogy with an utterly compelling villain, and I'm not sure first-time director Marcel was the right filmmaker to get this made.

In which Rian Johnson emerges as an heir apparent to Jonathan Demme. Wonderful probing use of the camera, goading the performance just a bit from behind the lens, and an incredibly intimate portrait of performance.

There is perhaps no filmmaker alive today who is more in touch with the whimsy of adolescence.
