Imagine you are about to sit down and eat a cake. You’re with your friends, and whoever decorated it did a nice job with the frosting. It looks like all your favorite flavors are there too, and there’s fun music playing in the background. As you cut into the first piece, you’re surprised to see what looks like Pilsbury white cake sponge (you had a cake eerily similar to this kind in recent memory and didn’t care for it much). But!…

Tonally a mess, but I did have lots of fun. A weird mix of slapstick, sci-fi, and disturbingly dark tones that may be a sign of the directors Korean roots, but the overall package was messy and felt like it was overreaching.

Pattinson (specifically) and most of the rest of the cast really deliver on the performances, with the exception of some sequences that devolve into what appears to be a trend of having actors just scream their lines?

I love the space-horror sub genre (mostly because of nostalgia for Dead Space) and this has all those elements. While I was hoping for a bit more of the actual Alien, I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of plot and development of characters after only ever seeing Sigourney attached to this film.

This film would probably be a 5 after a rewatch, unfortunately the crowd I was with during this showing was a bit too chatty...

Lives up to the hype. Excited to watch Aliens.

Never have I struggled so hard through a movie since watching Knight of Cups (iykyk). Pretty fantastic set design but the film seems to want to be a dramatic telling of a comedic premise. Sadly, the jokes are all WGA strike-tier. The best bit in the whole movie comes right at the end and is not worth staying the full runtime for. Skip.
