Emilia Pérez provides some of the strangest and most embarrassing segments/dialogue/sequences combined with some of the most interesting and thought provoking moments I’ve ever seen. There’s nothing quite like this story, especially told in this particular format. For every terribly delivered Selena Gomez line there is a brilliant Karla Sofía Gascón monologue.
Director Jacques Audiard had an ambitious vision and even more ambitious ideas, within them there are equal parts hits and misses throughout. To call this movie polarizing would be an understatement, but because of that divisiveness and originality it deserves to be seen.
