Clean 2021
Low-Budget Leon The Professional type movie. It was fun but dark, attempting to be more thoughtful than most of the films in this subgenre. It doesn't always succeed but it's forgivable as it comes across as more indie and intimate as a project.
It also has a weird race relation angle which isn't bad, but it doesn't really do anything substantial with it so I'm torn saying that makes it better or worse.

Nightmare Alley 2021
I love most Del Toro works so this should come as no surprise, but this is definitely a departure from previous films and is demonstrably darker and in some ways even crueler than his other films. I get why some ppl didn't like it the plot was slow, and thoughtful and exists more as a thematic study of the "American Dream" but yeah it is gorgeous to watch and I enjoyed it, and definitely feel its one of the few recent films where I'll actively seek out a rewatch.
