Deep Blue Sea 1999
Incredible premise (genetically modified ultra intelligent homicidal sharks), amazing setting (sea lab in the middle of the ocean), super tight fast paced plotting, and an overpowering sense of utter uncertainty over who if anybody will actually get out alive.
This is animal-centric action cinema (acac?) done right.
Very much a post Jurassic Park project, but in an exceedingly rare case is all the better for it.

The Cat 1988
Extremely strong and smart heist/robbery film.
Nearly to a fault, but has just enough of a sense of humour (what an ending!) and emotional core running through all of the calculated precision for it to shine very brightly.Very much in the upper echelon of this sort of film.
