Everything I love about art in one film. A masterpiece of absurdist cinema.

The Consequences of Love 2004
Visually superb and I liked the first half’s direction. The second half lost me, too much a mafia story cliche but with Italian attention to detail. I’d rate it about equally to Anora. Sorrentino knows how to use music and montage together. However my biggest complaint is sometimes this and his other films feel like expensive commercials. This one was particularly for BMW although I believe Bacardi was also a sponsor.

Torrente, the Dumb Arm of the Law 1998
Movies just aren’t this funny anymore. So extremely offensive, everything about this film is in bad taste, and it’s hilarious!

Where Is the Friend's House? 1987
This was really good. At times it felt like an absurdist play, the amount of repetition and inattentiveness. I also had the feeling of running through villages in Zelda games. It was very unique.
I thought Ahmadpour was actually a bad kid, he disobeys everybody the entire film but given his situation his family and villagers don’t help him much. I really liked the last 5 minutes; the storm scene was romantic and sublime, and the way it ended was very clever, it totally threw me off in a good way.
