Bolaño 2666 the musical with a Preciado gangster kingpin redemption arc. So absurd and deliciously kitsch and utterly unprecedented that I actually just fucking loved it. Sat there with mouth agape for most of it. Mesmerising and repulsive in equal measure. ZEITGEIST TYPE SHIT. La Vaginoplastia!!

felt like cheap Spanish daytime soap opera with janky english dub - ham fisted, stilted, comically serious. Script is a stinking pile o doodoo. burning house scene = big lols. Honestly not gay enough to be kitsch, just straight up bad…but I never tired of it. Tilda and Julianne do the most with the least. And how do we not get a horny turturro sex scene??
