Finally watched this tonight and wow I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a film that capture the complexity and nuance of relationships in such an accurate but also empathetic and sincere way. It was a little slow at first but it comes together in such a powerful way. I feel like I could relate to almost every character at some point. The ending completely wrecked me.

Body horror is not really my thing but this was a solid movie about the importance of learning to love yourself. Also I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be a woman in our society.
I love how Spielberg was able to make this movie feel almost dreamlike/fuzzy memories come to life while also making it feel grounded in reality. It felt like going through his old journals and home movies. Beautiful movie from start to finish.

There are so many things I could say about this movie, but the one word that keeps coming to mind is inspiring! The back drop of WW1 makes this movie even compelling and thrilling. 1917 is beautifully shot, acted, paced, and all the other things that makes up a great movie but where it really connected for me was the story of courage, determination, friendship, and doing the right thing.
