  Conclave is engaging and incredibly well-acted pulp that offers neither revelation nor reward. For something that has such a solemn tone, the whole affair is pretty damn laughable to me, but maybe that's just my own sensibilities about the Church coming through.

  Bumping this up to a 9/10 knowing that it's not actually a 9/10, but I love it so much and watched it so often as a kid that I probably should just give it a 10/10. It just works. Brendan Fraser is at the top of his game, and the whole damn cast really nails the goofy, over-the-top performances. It is exactly what an action adventure movie should be.
