Tom Gardner

Tom Gardner Pro

I like anything involving a Coen Brother or Bob Dylan. Preferably both.

Still the best. The laugh/minute ratio is insane. Tom Hollander’s physical comedy/the way he holds himself is so good. He nails that kind of person perfectly. You know, the kind who’d say they were for the working people, yet actually be a big tory and spend the week saying how they want to take away benefits from those who need them most. That kind of person.

I remember when I was in my mod phase and asking my parents for the CDs of Scott 1-4 one Christmas. I used to listen to them on repeat, blown away by the mystery of it all. I had little desire to know much about the man behind the sunglasses, though. The mystery is what made them so good.
I’m glad this doc doesn’t over explain or ‘factualise’ too much. It allows the aura to remain whilst simultaneously proving there…

Perfect rewatch. Just the coolest. The clothes, the hair, the music, the inherent queerness of it all… fuck yeah. The cinematic influences Glass (genius) taps into are all so me, too (late-era Lynch, early Coens, James M. Cain stories). Literally don’t think I could trust someone who said they didn’t like this film

((Another opportunity to push my theory of Stewart’s anxiety-acting being the best around))

Oh and if anyone has more queer noir recommendations lmk!

Wanted to rewatch for a while. I remember the initial experience of watching this at a festival screening being jaw-dropping, yet it was released to lukewarm reviews (not from my dear friends, I must add) and it slipped under the radar. I wanted to prove to myself I was right and, somewhat uncharacteristically, a) I am right b) I am willing to back this.

The final act loses none of its power upon rewatch - equal parts sickening and engrossing,…
