The film engages with a sly sense of mystery of one death, but soon engages on how to deal with past abuse. Ancient mourning rituals are seen as inadequate by the ones recently abused. They strive to break the ritual circles of abuse by speaking out--warning--others regardless of the consequences of collision with mourning rituals and silence rituals. At times humorous, but mostly deeply serious about breaking cycles--from a Zambian perspective [but of a universal problem as I was reminded…
This is Dylan raw. This is mostly Dylan interviewed, for an amazingly long stretch. This is Dylan singing. This is Dylan "backstage" while on tour, mostly in England and Europe. It ends in 1966-67.
Interviews with his contemporaries are artfully spliced into the narrative to sometimes fill in events, give an illuminating comment, or to give a contrasting perspective than that offered by Dylan. Especially Joan Baez. These interviews look dated, and perhaps they were collected over time since the…
There are many enjoyable elements of the film, plus the satirical social comments, but it is all too much in the end to keep coherent. It is too big for its own good. The set designs and special effects are wonderful, and Mickey is a lovable dope, who knows he is such.

Good adaptation of a good book about The Troubles. There are obvious touches of "Hollywood-ism" but almost every series has that. It treats its subjects and rationales with adult level seriousness. The book intentionally tells a provocative ambivalent story of Jean McConville and that colors this series. I believe in the Republican cause, and almost any public story telling about the time is beneficial.
