A throwback to classic 70s detective stories with a healthy dose of Lethal Weapon for good measure as these characters are just really fun to watch interact and play off each other to the point where I think that this should’ve been the Lethal Weapon of the 2010s and should’ve gotten like at least three sequels by now. However just as a standalone movie this is great. Gosling and Crowe’s on-screen chemistry with Shane Black’s sharp direction and dialogue is entertaining and on top form throughout.
