Charlie Kaufman’s brain needs to be studied. The first six minutes of Kaufman’s Speech at the BAFTA Awards, totally encapsulates this movie. He spends the first half of this film setting up all the things he thinks are technically “wrong” about screenwriting, and then, he spends the second half doing all those things. Awesome.
Yeah, you could say this movie is pretentious or self indulgent, but it knows it is, and it’s better for it. Thank you, Charlie Kaufman. I gotta watch Synecdoche next.
