I liked it. The film creates a remarkably intense atmosphere through unconventional tracking shots and unusual lens choices, giving it a dreamlike, languid, and poetic quality. The off-season Fuerteventura setting plays a crucial role in shaping the tone and mood. The barren, dusty, and windswept island exudes a profound sense of loneliness, yet it is oddly captivating and beautiful.

Don’t be discouraged by the 2.5-star rating on IMDb. Misleading marketing is my guess. It's not The Killer but it's an affecting and worthwhile watch.

Yet more evidence of Rose Glass' exceptional vision and style. Her first stateside effort. Kristen Stewart, Katy O'Brien and Anna Baryshnikov are all excellent. Ben Fordesman's brilliant colour drenched cinematography is almost supernatural and otherworldly in its intensity. Also of note is the incredible sound design and soundtrack from Pop Will Eat Itself's Clint Mansell who's really found his oeuvre these days in the film soundtrack world.

A brilliant, pulpy, grisly, hopelessly romantic and unpredictable metaphysical mind fuck of a film. Loved it.

Good cinematography and atmosphere. Stunning visceral horror in parts. There was an overly obvious effort at a meaningful subtextual statement on the class system, science and faith but none of it is  especially memorable or meaningfully realised beyond other more capable efforts. There were minor nods to the horrors that come with being female and married into money in the late 19th century and nods at the horrors of being a servant for landed gentry but none  of the actors…
