The Lighthouse 2019
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
First Thoughts:
The Lighthouse is a very unique psychological horror-thriller, both the cinematography as well as the sound effects are striking. A lot of the movie is open for interpretation and does not give you a clear sequence of events, time itself is a theme throughout the movie and even at the end you don't know for sure how long they have been trapped on the "rock". Robert Patterson and Willem Dafoe both gave outstanding performances (idk how neither of…Translated from by -
2001: A Space Odyssey 1968
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
First Thoughts:
2001: a space odyssey is another masterpiece by Stanley Kubrick. It is hard to believe that this film was made even before the moon landing, as it is so visually stunning and easily holds up with the visuals from contemporary science-fiction movies. There are so many shots and cuts in this movie that made cinematic history and you can see the influence this movie had in a lot of movies. Additionally the score and sound design fit perfectly.…Translated from by

A Real Pain 2024
short and sweet, with a lot of heartfelt moments, but it was kind of missing something for me.
Kieran Caulkin gives such a good performance, that made me think he was just being himself.

The Brutalist 2024
The Brutalist had me hooked from start to finish, and I couldn’t believe it was three hours long—it flew by. Some scenes were really tough to sit through, but that raw intensity made the story hit even harder. Between the gorgeous visuals and the gripping performances, this one’s going to stick with me for a while.
I watched the film with slovenian subtitles, which meant I missed out on the hungarian dialogue, so I definitely have to watch it again.

The Shawshank Redemption 1994
This is probably the most heart-warming movie I know. Shawshank Redemption is not like any other prison movie, while those often portrait prisoners as animalistic stereotypes, Shawshank Redemption shows them as humans. The film makes you sympathize with the inmates and holds up a mirror to how prisoners used to be or are still treated and shows the struggles they face when they enter a world that has completely changed without them. Of course all of this was thought of…
