  ay i'm taking pelham 123 ovah here!!!!!

  - 70s nyc

  - looks great (same dp as "the french connection", "the exorcist", "three days of the condor", "network", &c.)

  - about trains, public transit, and city politics: lots of cool stuff about how running a train system works, love to see the command center. the mayor and his advisors are great. but not too much wonk, just the right amount (i do love wonky movies, though)

  rip 2 the goat corman

  karloff is great
  bogman is good too

  looks incredible for a corman budgeted movie (kovacs as dp so u know)

  apparently corman would fire directors if he saw them use a dolly but there are some good dolly shots here

  also this movie was only made because karloff owed corman 2 days of shooting leftover from a previous pictures

  dark, prescient, funny; i really liked it

  2.5 stars
