Sometimes you watch a movie that is surprisingly bad. I don't think there was one good thing about this, aside maybe the final shot, which is a very pretty capture of the landscape/setting. The relationship between Bancroft and Fonda is bizarre. The smoking stuff adds nothing and there are threads revealed that never come to anything. The story itself is not that interesting and the religious aspects are pretty banal. What was the point of this?
