Can a good performance make a bad film watchable?
Unfortunately, Chhaava has nothing interesting or worthwhile to say beyond the known premise, so what you get is just 155 agonizing minutes of establishing shots, and Vicky Kaushal in colorful attire plunging his sword into a thousand men.
Full props to the art department though, really loved the detail that went into the sets and costumes.

Curious. Very curious.
The trailer did pique my interest of course. A rural sci-fi story that's also a prison break mystery? What's not to like? And I'm happy to report that the movie mostly delivers, bar a few minor quibbles. To break it down:
