  People say this movie is about masculinity, which is somewhat true but I would add:

  Tyler is not really a masculine fantasy, but rather is a purely negative figure - he is the NEGATION of liberal capitalist man (itself a negation of traditional man) and has no true POSITIVE masculine force. Tyler does not build anything, but can only destroy the society that he is the negation of.

  Project Mayhem itself is somewhat of an anarchist-fascist programme. Fascism is reflected…

  Zulu 1964

  i kinda don't buy the "racist film" thesis, for the pure reason that there just ISNT any moral evaluation of the zulu. this is pure historical politics. why are the zulu fighting? because the british are there. why are the british fighting? because the zulu are there. they are irreconcilable, and cannot possibly hope to understand one another, as long as they are both still standing.

  there is no private hatred, no insults, just pure warfare.
