  I love it when the nepo babies of terrible, hamfisted directors get to step up to the plate and make their own terrible, hamfisted films.

  It's so reassuring to know that no matter how much budding talent and genuine creativity may be out there, we'll always be able to reserve the biggest releases for undeserving losers born into wealth and connections.

  Braindead is a great example of a simple concept performed with brilliant execution. Like the Evil Dead films, this film combines copious levels of gore and slapstick comedy with blissful elegance. The plot is as straightforward and endearing as they come, with main character Lionel struggling to juggle his caretaking of a family of zombies with a charming romance. The characters are over-the-top and none are wasted, with each contributing to the laughs and never-ending action in their own way. By the time the film has concluded, you don't want the bloody (and chunky) fun to end.
