My God, Freddy's an idiot.
This is darn near perfect. And the ending works, but it's not the ending that either of the leads deserve. By the end, Eliza deserves to be her own person, not one of Henry Higgins' toys. It almost works in My Fair Lady where Rex Harrison is playing a flustered little boy used to getting his way, but Leslie Howard's version, while played brilliantly, lacks any innocence.
