Would’ve been two stars if not for the scene-stealing Hiroyuki Sanada, and because of my enjoyment of Brian Tyree Henry and Aaron Taylor Johnson as hit-man brothers. Brad Pitt’s dialogue was grating, as was much of the script overall. Fun action scenes, especially the final mega battle. Cute seeing Sandra Bullock at the end, loved her wig.

Gladiator II 2024
Doesn’t have the same gravitas as the first film. Too many unsubtle visual references to the first film that don’t hold the same weight. Editing/pacing was too fast. Not enough time spent on character development. Not enough time spent on lingering on the grief of losing loved ones. Some humorous moments in the dialogue. Excellent performances from Denzel and Paul. Love Pedro but his acting was wooden and his lack of accent felt off. Also, all of the animals during the fights in the colosseum straight off the bat? Filling it with water and sharks?! Let’s get serious.
