  Been trying to figure out why this film won't leave my mind, even though I remember feeling rather meh about it at the cinema. It's so hard to make a film about sex. I recall reading an interview with Hamaguchi where he talks about the cinematic impossibility of the sex scene. The very processes of simulation. i.e. blocking, intimacy coordination and preparation, actively dilute the thickness and tension of sex itself.
