  The Monkey is a bizarre blend of fatalism, trauma, and dark comedy, where every death is as random as a coin toss and as absurd as a punchline. It leans hard into existential horror, making you question if free will even exists -- only to immediately undercut that dread with Looney Tunes-level carnage.

  🐵This was way more of a comedy than it was a horror, and that's Ok!!!

  Bruce Campbell looks like a little kid in a cop uniform in this 😆
  Slasher films set in big cities are somewhat unique, and even more so when the slasher is a New York cop. There are lots of cool ideas; however, the movie just lags in certain places.
  I watched this as a kid in the 90s and remember thinking it was OK. I was expecting that it wouldn't hold up, but surprisingly, it's about as good as I remember. 3/5
