An imperfect film, but it does a decent job capturing some Silent Hill atmosphere. My only experience will the franchise is with the recent remake, so your milage may vary. It is at it's strongest when it's just our lead walking through a weird ass town reacting to it's violation of the laws of reality and reason. That maybe about a quarter of the film. I don't think Hollywood would welcome a film that's mostly one character walking fighting monsters…

The Perfect Weapon 1991
Jeff Speakman may not be a great actor, but he gets the job done. It certainly helps that the film is fast paced and doesn't give him heavy drama or long monologues. He's great in fight scenes, is good at looking at things with intensity, and has some charm. If you want a real bottom of the barrel action star David Bradley is your man.
