  Never been an X-men guy, never saw most of these movies, gonna watch all of em now but this was really not a promising start for me. There’s parts of this I liked but I really wasn’t feeling a lot of it. Magneto is a clear standout, but so many characters feel underdeveloped. It’s not enough to stop me from watching the rest, but I’m not coming back to this one anytime soon.

  Meaning this in the nicest way possible, but it really feels like it’s someone’s first short film. Which, of course, it is Fiona Nova’s first (and I think Piccoli’s as well?) film, but watching it gives the same vibe I’d get were I to watch a debut short from a famous director. It’s good, with a style being established, but it’s still a debut. Maybe McQuarrie’s performance could have been better, though part of me think that she was directed…

  Very glad I finally got to see a Scorsese film in the theaters, very sad that it may be the only one where I get to do that. Excellent film, nothing but praise of the highest order for it. My only complaint is that it was too short, I could’ve stayed in that theater for hours.
