Scorcese directs these incredible movies I have next to nothing to say about. When I saw Killers of the Flower Moon, it was the same story. As in, literally, on an abstract level, the two narratives are very similar: based-on-a-true-story period pieces about an abusive criminal husband with a likable face surrounded by worse monsters.

Most of the interest and appeal here is on a technical level; the structure, the cinematography, the mood. It's like a shepherd's tone, constantly escalating…

"And then the funniest thing happened."

It's funny how you can scroll through the reviews of Inside on this site, and every single positive review feels like it was written by the dumbest person alive. SO true bestie! He is literally me! This is so real! I was almost as excited to see this film as I was to see J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakening, and boy, in either case, I wasn't disappointed! OMG I cried!

I'm one of the biggest (marky) marks for Bay's Transformers movies and after finally revisiting his final dalliance with the franchise I can confirm: it's dreck.

I think something auteur theorists often fail to acknowledge about Bay's films—distracted as they are by his extremely distinctive directorial style—is that they do ultimately begin as screenplays, by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman for movies 1-2 and Ehren Kruger for 2-4. Bay's politics may be somewhat inscrutable, but that's further complicated by the…
