  The Other 1972

  surprisingly good little sick-day flick from the guy that brought you to kill a mockingbird. creepy twins with The Shining and a host of farmyard "accidents". blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo by a pre-everything john ritter. carried in part by good performances by the child actors, who appear to have been in little else. the twist is a mix of telegraphed and misdirected, so ends up being quite effective. an underrated entry in the Creepy Kid genre pantheon. honestly one of the better films i've seen on movie mac. recommended.

  The Monkey 2025

  the world's most averagest movie. 3 stars. 6 out of ten. letter grade C. occasional flashes of the directing i enjoyed so much in longlegs, but not enough. the comedy was not funny, and yet not egregiously unfunny. some of the rube goldberg kills were fun but not enough of them. i almost wonder if it would have been better had it been gorier. it was surprisingly rated 15 instead of 18 so there may have been room for that. not a bad movie, but certainly not a good movie either.
