Once again, Noah Baumbach completely nails family social dynamics and makes a movie that's overflowing with ideas and themes. Unfortunately, he forgot to have a focus Margot at the Wedding seems to just bob back and forth between certain things. And I know that's his whole thing, the realism, but the characters could have done with being just a tad likeable even at all.
There's nothing I've seen quite like this film. It plays such an absurd premise (gritty high school noir) so straight that I fully bought into it.
And, I mean, just the look of it all! The spinning mirror scene! The callback in the yard! The back of the van! Nothing about this film isn't hard to look away from.
