It’s good, but not great. Several performances help immensely, and while it definitely delivers on the chaos leading up to the first airing of SNL, the film didn’t keep my attention throughout.
I’d still stay it’s worth a look if you haven’t yet and if the cast appeals to you.
You’d never know from this rating that I actually like Pete, and I’ve enjoyed his shit over the years, but this is so terrible and painful to watch.
I think I heard as he went through/is going through rehab (is he still in treatment? I dunno) he used standup to work through shit and see if his new material appealed to live audiences. If that’s true he should have maybe had a few more shows first before taping this.
