Inoffensive enough rainy Sunday afternoon sci-fi nonsense. Much like The Black Hole it was made in 1980 but has a strictly mid-70s pre-Star Wars sensibility about it, only with nominally more mild nudity and gore. Notionally toys with themes of male insecurities on aging and replacement; Crusty Kirk Douglas fearing being replaced by a younger Harvey Keitel.
