  Really haven’t seen anything like this. Taps childhood psyche very well. Also makes sense why this popped off in 2022 with the internet’s fascination with liminal spaces.

  This was really amazing, and Fernanda Torres 100% should’ve gotten the Oscar. For a “based on a true story” biopic film it avoids a lot of the traps of the genre, and I feel like it’s a really great narrative by itself. Also very impressed by the period piece aspect of this, and I really enjoyed how it was shot more like a straight drama than something more indie/arthouse. Kind of exhausted by the very “extra” look of this year’s oscar noms.

  This was absolutely amazing getting to see this in 35mm at the Prince Charles Cinema. Truly peak moviegoing. Every time I rewatch this it improves vastly somehow. Always picking up on more of the infinitely complex details Wong Kar-wai put into this.
