  Quite dull honestly. Even though there’s some excellent camerawork, the film as a whole drags really bad and is just obvious propaganda. It’s like the same sentiment repeated in speech after speech. Since I’m not a nazi I guess I don’t really find what’s all that special about this. Allied propaganda holds up so well because (despite its own issues) it’s morally and politically aligned with the current day mainstream, and has a far more humanistic touch. The whole purpose…

  There’s probably a lot of very insightful things I could write about this. It is so beautifully shot, and it blends silent era and modern cinema technique so well. It’s really an amazing film, but my main takeaway is that Robert Eggars changed the allegory of Nosferatu to be about his own shame regarding masturbating (this does not show up AT ALL in the original).

  Really haven’t seen anything like this. Taps childhood psyche very well. Also makes sense why this popped off in 2022 with the internet’s fascination with liminal spaces.
