Goodbye, Mr. Chips 1969
In the 1934 novelette, Kathie was a character with opinions and idealism, who changed Chips's entire personality. And then when they were adapting it into a movie, they got rid of that. Since they moved up the setting, I thought they would change her from an 1890s New Woman to a flapper, but they didn't do that. They entirely did away with her personality and had her simply moon after him as a follower. And that's the whole story.

Here are the reasons why this movie should not have had conquistadores in it:
1. They are superfluous to the plot, when you think about it.

Ulysses 1967
This movie looks like shit and was edited like shit. Like imagine if James Joyce just had everything happen in Ulysses the novel exactly how it happened in Homer's Odyssey, but he set it in 1904. EVERYTHING is the same, including that you're apparently just allowed to murder people for mooching and moving in on your wife. Pretty ridiculous, right?
So WHY did they have this movie set in 1967, and not change a SINGLE GODDAMN THING ABOUT THE STORY?!…
