  the scene with the older Polish man and the rocks on their grandma's ex-doorstep was brilliant, I loved its placement in the film that late as it brought forward the main themes which Kulkin's character was there to represent and highlight.

  as for the actual dynamics between these two friends/cousins - they reminded me a bit of the book Embers by Sándor Márai, which I read recently, with how fragile a supposedly brotherly friendship between two men can be and just... showing the layers in a male friendship is something I see rarely represented in media as a whole, which I found nice here.
