Sophie Scholl: The Final Days 2005
Rewatching this for the first time since I saw it in theatres. It still hits you like an absolute sledgehammer. Julia Jentsch gives one of the most devastating performances of the 00s and, in my opinion, belongs in the top tier of German cinema.
Granted, this isn’t the easiest film to watch and not one I plan on revisiting any time soon. With how bleak everything is in 2025, I needed to revisit a narrative that showcases unbelievable courage standing up to a violent and bigoted system.

The Comrades of Summer 1992
I can’t believe this is a real movie starring Joe Mantegna, directed by the director of HALLOWEEN III, and written by the writer of SAVING PRIVATE RYAN.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Waiting to watch this until I got back home to New York was such a good move…not just because the movie’s set here, but also because the moment the “To Be Continued” title card appeared, a guy in front of me at the 12:30 screening at the Williamsburg Cinemas bolted up, screamed multiple expletives at the screen, and then stormed out during the credits. My also visibly and audibly upset friend then ranted about it never being marketed as part of a trilogy over slices at Best Pizza on Havemeyer.
I love New York so much.
