  if you can excuse a super forced analogy, aftersun was like a delicate touch that was so delicate it didn’t connect with me - this film had the same sense of delicacy but with just enough pressure that it hit my soul so much harder. sad, sweet, and gorgeous - i really loved this!!

  honestly exhausting; the film is so obviously about American politics that it’s hard to take it seriously; the script and acting was just so poor. loved parasite but horribly disappointing

  Fischer's life could actually be the base for a really good character study in the right hands - but this is a serious mess.

  some really annoying details they got wrong: chess olympiads are played as teams by nationality, but 'fischer' complains the russians are drawing games against each other intentionally so he can't win, and that they're playing a team game?? the first game gets one of the most well known aspects of Fischer's play (1.e4 'best by test')…
