Paused this when there was an hour left and was like Jesus Christ how is there still an hour left. Sounds good on paper, and the plot is great, but it ultimately lost me. Although the modern tv adaptation isn't amazing, it is much better than this in my opinion. The ending sucks too.

Even though I didn't get the whole dream thing by myself, the experience of watching the film was creepy, engrossing and suspenseful enough that I really didn't care. Bring back the interval!
I was shocked when I looked up Lazslow Toth after the film, expecting to find a lengthy Wikipedia page detailing his epic life and work, only to discover that he never actually existed. Such is the effect of a script so detailed, it could only have been based on a true story. Except it wasn't.
It helps of course, that this incredible script was brought to life by the magnificent Adrien Brody, who so convincingly plays…
