The last movie that I saw in theaters that comes close to the actual joy I felt watching this was Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (which as an aside, is another E^2 sound design show, those guys really know what they’re doing). Tonally, I felt that both occupy and succeed in the same space that something like Deadpool & Wolverine doesn’t, an unserious, larger than life story of massive consequence that didn’t go too far, and yes, the “whole point”…

This is a weird one.
My producer's pitch is imagine Pinocchio, as written by Hideaki Anno of Neon Genesis Evangelion fame, but animated and set in a world designed by Studio Ghibli.
I think that an undeniable strength of the film is the design and art direction of the world. A lot of contemporary science-fiction stories seek to build these highly dramatic and beautiful worlds, but something feels...flat about them. Aquaman and Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets…
