I hate this movie. I understand that it was influential and that nothing like it had been produced up until it came out, but just because something is influential does not mean that I am required to raise it up on a pillar of nostalgia in my mind. I loved this movie. It has arguably the best opening sequence I've ever seen in a film, and the suspense built up in said sequence continues on for the entirety of the movie. Heath Ledger as the Joker was extremely impressive; at no point during his time on screen did I think that the Joker was anything less than maniacal.
